The following email went out to all 2016 226tri Competitors today
Cotswold226 tri – Post race mail
Good evening all
I hope everyone got home safely from yesterday’s race and aren’t either too worn out, sunburnt or a mix of both.
I wanted to drop you all a quick mail to say thank you for choosing to race with us yesterday, and to go through a few points from the race as well as ask for some feedback
Firstly, and most importantly, I just wanted to say thank you very much for being a great bunch of competitors. It’s a tough day, but there were lots of smiles under the grimaces and the spirit yesterday was great even given how tough the conditions were for racing in. Also, we collected up by far the least amount of litter on the course of any of our previous events, so I wanted to also say thank you for that. We’re very lucky to be able to organise races in such a beautiful part of the country, and littering is a very high profile problem with events in the area, and one that could ultimately get all racing stopped in the waterpark, so thank you for being so considerate and carrying your rubbish to the marshals or bins
I’ll try not to waffle on too much, but in this email I’ll cover the following ;
Race results and photos
Lost property
Feedback request
Next year’s race
Cotswold Classic Middle Distance triathlon
Race results and photos
I guess the most important bit in this mail is to let you know just how fast you went, and how you looked doing it
The full results can be found here http://dbmaxresults.co.uk/Results.aspx?CId=16421&RId=6128&EId=1
The photo’s are being sorted and uploaded by the photographer today, and will be available here http://www.charleswhittonphotography.com/group24347.html
We’ve prepaid the first downloads, which you will be able to download through the site, and then further images will be available through the site too should you want a highres image for printing or your photo printed on various canvasses or mugs etc
Lost property
We have a number of lost property things that were handed in to us yesterday from various parts of the course as well as a few pairs of flip flops that were left at the swim start. These include a pair of male (I think) pants, a watch, loads of pairs of goggles, what looks like a false teeth or gumsheild holder, an alarms clock (in transition, but not sure why) and a variety of swim shorts, arm warmers etc. If you’re missing anything when you get around to emptying out your bags, let me know and if we have it, I’ll get it on the post to you
I also have a rather expensive looking White Sidi Carbon road shoe (left only), so if you have the right one, drop me a mail and I’ll post it up
Feedback request
We’re committed to making the 226 tri as good as it possibly can be, and although we see lots of the race during the day, it’s you guys and girls that really go through the day, so please let me know what you think worked and what didn’t
Did people like the course, was it how they’d imagined it to be, did you find it as fast as we’d promised, how was our communication with you, did you like the medal and goody bag
For those of you that have raced the 226 in the past, did you prefer finishing in the lake complex over the previous years where we’ve finished in South Cerney ? Also, how did people find the run course, was there anything else we can provide ? Was having 226Wknd Sportive riders on the course at the same time ok, or did it cause confusion etc etc
We’re meeting back up as a team this Thursday night for a debrief and to go through what we thought worked and didn’t from the weekend, and I’d love to have lots of feedback from people that raced on what they thought worked and what didn’t, or just other things you think we can do.
If I could ask that you take 5 mins to drop me a mail, I’d really appreciate it. We’re very keen to make this race the best it can be, and although we don’t want to try and compete with the Ironman and Challenge races, we want to grow it to a few hundred competitors so that we have more budget to create something special for you guys the competitors
Next year’s 226Tri and 226 Wknd
We’ve not fixed the dates yet, but will do in the next few weeks. The current plan to is bring the date earlier to try and avoid clashes with the bigger UK Irondistances races, so will be end June/Early July in 2017
Entries open for both 226 Tri and 226Wknd 2017 on Sept 1st at 113events.com
Cotswold Classic Middle Distance tri
Although racing again is probably the last thing on your mind right now, we still have around 50 of the 800 slots for this year’s 113 Classic Middle Distance race still available until July 21st (Thursday this week)
Although the swim is the same course (1 lap instead of 2 obviously), the 2 lap bike course is completely different and apart from 1 short rise, is absolutely pancake flat. The run is very similar to that we used yesterday, but don’t have the dogleg out and back section, and the return leg from Neighbridge Lake comes back in through the village of Somerford Keynes rather than back the way you came out yesterday
Entries and full information is available at https://www.113events.com/cotswold-classic/
Right, that’s it for me today.
If you were able to take a few minutes to give us some feedback, I’d really appreciate it and it’s very important to us to know what worked and what didn’t so that we can make next year’s race even better
Thank you very much for choosing to race with us, and I wish you all a speedy recovery, and best of luck for those of you that are going on to do other races this season long or short
Cheers
Graeme, Nicci, James and the 226 team
